When you’re in your room, look around. You can see dragons everywhere.

Looking at your bed you find the bedpost on the right to be stuck. Turn to the right and to the left of the door is a large tapestry with a poem on it. In each line there’s a word of which you need to find the matching symbol. In the junior version the words are highlighted. Look further around the room.

Further to the right you can see your suitcases. Look at them and open them with the key. On top you will find your diary that you can browse through. Close the suitcase again by using the cover. Turn further to the right and look at the statue on the mantelpiece. It’s a dragon. When you read the text below it about nine dragons, the dragon must be the symbol for ‘daughter’.

Use the door to leave the room and walk three steps towards the painting in front of you. You can see a vent on the wall on your left.. Looking at it you can see you can take the screws but they are stuck. Walk ahead towards the white laundry chute. Just seeing it on your right, when you open it there’s only a rope behind it. Close it again and turn around to face the painting.

From the three doors in front of you, use the one on the left to meet Abby. Talk to her and learn about her interest in ghosts. Turn around to face the three doors again and walk forwards into the hallway and down the stairs. Walk down until you’re in front of a door with a similar laundry chute next to it.

Look at the chute, open it and notice that the rope is cut. Close the chute, turn around twice to see the chute on your left and double doors in front of you. Walk towards the doors and open them. Walk inside the room and find Rose. Talk to her and she’ll ask you to solve a tile puzzle for her.

On the floor to the right of Rose under the cupboard is the floor puzzle. Put the shapes back in place. Put the square tile in the top wing and the parallelogram in the bottom wing at the lower end. Fill the other spots with the triangles. They’re in the correct position if they change colour. Once finished and no white lines are visible any more, leave the puzzle and turn around twice to see Rose again.

Talk to Rose and she’ll give you another assignment: the ceiling tiles upstairs. You need some tools for that so you need to speak to Charlie. Turn right three times and look at the folder on the desk. Look inside it to see the instructions on how to make a poster bed. Leave the brochure and turn to the right eight more times, past the door and look at the clipboard on the desk. It’ll tell you when everyone is in.

Put the clipboard down and open the drawer of the desk. Look at the paperwork on the right and find the fire insurance policy. Look at the symbol at the top. It’s the symbol for ‘fire’! Leave the document, close the drawer and leave the cabinet. Turn left twice and use the double doors to leave the room. In front of you you’ll see a stained glass window.

Use the door on the right to enter the basement and go downstairs. Walk towards the piano and you’ll find Charlie. Talk to him to learn more about him, the house and the history. After the conversation look to the right at the piano. It has a panel but when you try to open it you find that it’s stuck. You can play the keys but what to play? Leave the piano and turn further to the right.

In the corner with the boxes is a newspaper on the table. Look at the paper and the article in it. Leave the paper and the boxes and turn to the right to face the stairs. Go up the stairs and through the door. Facing the wooden double doors, turn around and keep walking straight ahead and open the doors with the stained glass. Inside you’ll find another double door with stained glass and stairs left and right leading up.

Look at the stairs on the right. On the left side you notice that the statue is missing one eye. On the right side you can see what the eye looks like. Go back twice then forward into the room. Turn left to look under the scaffolding. Move the paint tray and find the PAINT SCRAPER underneath. Pick it up and turn around to face the single wooden door next to the clock. Use the door and enter the room.

Turn to the left in the room to see the fireplace and look at the couch in front of it. There’s a box on it and when you look inside the box there’s a telephone directory listing with a name Valdez mentioned at the address you’re at right now! So he was a previous owner. Look at the other paper in the box to see that the property was auctioned at one time.

Leave it all and turn back to the left. There’s a cabinet in the corner and when you open it you can find the fire extinguisher in there. Turn further to the left, past the door you came through and turn to the desk with the phone on it. On the left side of the desk is a drawer. Take a closer look at it and open the drawer. Inside you’ll find a letter from Hue and the reply that apparently never was sent.

Leave the drawer and look on top of the desk. Try to answer the phone but all you hear is a strange sound. Use the phone and call home, Bess and Emily. Emily can tell you more about the Chinese signs and culture. Leave the phone and the desk and turn right towards the door. Use the door to return to the scaffolding and in that room, turn left and use the stairs either left or right of the glass stained door.

Once upstairs turn left until you’re walking towards your own room door. Use the door to go inside and turn right to see the side-table of the bed with the alarm clock on it. Use the alarm clock, click ‘alarm’, adjust the time to 12:00pm and press the ‘set’ button. You’ll automatically jump to 12:00.

Leave the alarm and cabinet and turn to the right to the door. Use the door to go outside and walk into the hall towards the painting. At the end turn right towards the ladder and walking towards the ladder turn right again through the arched opening on the right. Go down the stairs into the large hall and once downstairs turn opposite the scaffolding to open the wooden door.

Inside the lounge turn right to see the double doors and open them to enter the study. As you look at the fireplace you can see that three tiles are missing. Turn left to see a man sitting behind a desk. Talk to him to find out it’s Louis. Talk to him about the history of the mansion. After the conversation, turn left and look at the book on top of the boxes. Move further to the left and look at the bookcase. On the bottom shelf you can find one of the missing tiles from the fireplace. Take the TILE and leave the bookcase.

Turn left again and look at the middle bookcase of the three left of the double doors. Inside the book just below the horse you can read more about the history of the piano and the names of the keys, just in case. Turn left and look on the table between the chairs to find a Mah-jongg game. Look at the tiles in the lower corner of the table to learn the symbol for ‘four’. Take a note of it.

Leave the table and turn further left to find another pile of boxes. On top is another book that tells you more about Lizzie Applegate. Leave the book and turn to the right until you face the double doors. Use them to leave the room and into the sitting room. Turn left and use the single door to get back into the hallway with scaffolding. Turn left and use the stairs (either left or right) to go to the first floor. Once there, turn left into the hall and right into the hall with the mirror.

Use the door on the left to talk to Abby and she’ll take you to the séance downstairs. After the séance you’ll be back in your room again. Turn around and leave again. Walk towards the end of the hall and turn right, then to the end where there’s a ladder.  Use the ladder, then use the paint scraper from your inventory on the ceiling paper to remove all loose parts and to reveal a panel. But it’s locked. Go down the ladder and turn around.

Walk forward and into the hall on the right, then down the stairs on right at the end. At the bottom turn left and use the door on the right when you’re facing the stained glass doors. Behind the door you can enter the cellar and down there, turn towards the table to the right of the fireplace. Have a closer look at the table, especially underneath where you’ll find a projector and a smoke machine.

Next to it is a CASSETTE you can take. Leave the table and turn left to the  bar and look closer at the cash register on it. Push any of the keys to open the drawer and take the KEY from it that’s in it. Leave the register and turn to the right of the table where you can find a toolbox on top.

Look at the toolbox and take the SCREWDRIVER from it. Leave the toolbox and turn around to face the piano. Look at the stool in front of it and open it. Inside you’ll find some sheet music. On the front page you’ll find the symbol for ‘river‘.

Leave the sheet music and close the stool again, then turn around to the stairs. Go up the stairs and use the opening to the right of the double doors in front of you. Go up the stairs here and at the top turn left, at the end of the hall turn right and straight away left. Enter your room at the end of the hallway.

Inside turn towards the bed and look at the alarm clock left of it. Push the alarm button and change the time to 6am, then push the set button. You’ll go to 6am. When you’re up again, turn towards the bed and post on the right with the stuck finial. Use the paint scraper on the finial to pry it open and take another KEY out.

Leave the bed and turn towards the door, then use it to leave the room. Walk towards the end of the hallway, turn right and walk towards the ladder at the end. Use the ladder to reach the ceiling and use the key from the cash register downstairs to unlock the hatch. Then you can climb into the loft space.

Turn around the room. Under the Hotel sign is a writing desk but it’s locked. Use the key you find in your bed to unlock it and find more sheet music inside. Note the notes at the top that are circled. Also look at the letter, the program and the portrait. Leave the desk and turn right towards a toolbox where you’ll find a CROWBAR. Turn further right to the desk and find a book on it. You can read the symbol for ‘beginning‘ here. Turn further until you can see a doll’s head and a small chest next to it. Open the chest and take the clothes IRON out.

Leave the desk, turn further right until you see a barrel. Next to the bottles on there, there’s another of the missing TILEs you need to take. Turn further right and use the rope on the floor to open the hatch and leave the attic. But the rope will break. Use the crowbar from your inventory on the hatch to open it and finally leave the attic.

Back in the hallway turn right into the other hallway and through the opening on the right in the back. down the stairs. Below, use the door left  in the wall in front of you to return to the basement. Walk over to the piano and take a closer look at the keys. There are 8 you can play. Number them from 1 to 8 from left to right and play the notes you saw circled on the sheet in the attic: 6, 2, 4, 5, and 4.

The compartment above the piano will open and you can take part of a MUSIC ROLL out. It says it will be the key you need. Leave the piano and turn around. Use the stairs to return to the hall and turn left. Use the opening on the right and go up the stairs again. On the top level floor, turn left and walk to the end, turn left again and climb the ladder back into the loft. Use the key to open the hatch and in the loft turn to the right to the writing table under the hotel sign.

Use the next key to open the desk and look at sheet music of the Bandit’s Treasure. Use the music roll you found in the piano downstairs on the top part of the sheet to let the holes in the roll reveal a sentence. It reads: FIND DIEGO ON STAIRS.

Leave the paperwork and desk and turn left and return to the hatch in the floor.  You have to open it again with the crowbar but then you can climb down the ladder again. Back on the floor, enter the arched opening on the left. Right in front of you look at the spindles of the banister. They can turn! Turn them so they spell the name of Diego. If you leave the banister and return, the puzzle is reset. You need to find him here so…..

The name Diego will turn to Coins, False and Floor and a compartment under the banister will open. Use the compartment to take a golden TOKEN out. There’s also a letter from an ‘E’ to Diego.  Leave the banister and go down the stairs (either left or right).

Go through the door under the stairs and walk straight ahead. Go through the doors in the back as well to end up in the dining room where Rose is sitting. Talk to her and she’ll ask you to fix the dumb waiter.

After the conversation, turn around to the double doors. Open them and go to the dumbwaiter on the right (walk past, turn around and look left). Open the door and use the clothes iron from your inventory on the cut rope. The rope will drop and the waiter will shoot up. Close the door, leave the dumb waiter and go up the stairs left of the dumb waiter.

Upstairs turn left and open the door of the dumb waiter.  The last TILE is on the tray, together with a broken cup. Look at it to learn the symbol for ‘eye‘. Leave the dumb waiter, close the door and walk towards the end of the hallway to the painting. Turn right, straight left and towards the door at the end to enter you own room.

Open the suitcase and have a look at the diary to see if everything still makes sense. Leave the suitcase and turn towards the door. When you want to go to the door, a letter is slipped underneath the door. Take the LETTER to open it and read the threat.

Leave the room and walk down the hallway. Turn right at the end and right through the arched opening. Go down the stairs and op the door opposite the scaffolding. Behind the couch in front of you you can see some smoke. Before you take a closer look, turn left towards the corner and the cabinet with the flower painted on it and open it. Take the EXTINGUISHER out and turn around. Now you can have a closer look at box and once you see the fire, use the extinguisher on the box to put the fire out. Automatically you’ll have a conversation with Rose.

After the conversation, turn around towards the double doors and use them to go to the hallway. Walk straight ahead and through the stained glass door, then the door opposite the scaffolding to return to the origin of the fire. Walk towards the fireplace behind the sofa and look at the papers in the box (you can find 2). You should recognise them from the drawer.

Leave the box and turn around towards the double doors. Enter the next room and if Louis #is behind the desk, talk to him, then leave and return to your own room upstairs. Set you alarm to 5pm (so he’ll be gone) and return here. Go towards the fireplace and use the tiles you’ve found on the mantlepiece above the fireplace. When the tiles are in place, you can pull the phoenix on the left to reveal a secret passage behind one of the bookcases.

Enter the space behind the bookcase and find a painting. Look at it to learn the symbol for ‘child‘.  On the right side of the picture you can find a LANTERN on the wall. Pick it up and look at the wall. There’s a loose brick and when you remove it you can look into the library and see Louis take something from the bookcase and put it in his briefcase.

Close the peephole, replace the brick, turn around and use the leaver to leave the space. Use the double doors to enter the parlor and turn left to the single door. Use it to return to the hall and go up the stairs. Turn left twice and towards your own room in the back.  Enter the room and set the alarm to 7pm,

After the alarm has gone, leave the room, walk towards the end of the hallway, turn right and straight left and go down the stairs at the right. Once downstairs use the door left on the opposite wall to go to the basement.  Have a good look at the fireplace and find that the grate on the floor is stuck. Use the crowbar on the grate to remove it and with the lantern you can examine the space underneath.

When you reach the spiders you’re too far, you need to turn left just before and you’ll find a living space. Examine it all and on the table you’ll find a Chinese food box with the symbol for ‘king‘. There’s a book about El Diablo and a DISKETTE that you should take. There’s also a postcard from Charlie to his parents.

Go up the stairs here and in the hall go through the glass stained door into the hall. Turn right to enter the parlour and turn right again. Use the double doors to enter the library. Go towards the desk and use the laptop on the desk. You don’t know the password but you can play a maze game to get in. Press M to see a map and navigate through the maze (in Junior mode much smaller and easier than in Senior). Once on the other side, you’ll see the computer’s desktop. Click on the key-icon to see the passwords. Now you know the laptop password. And the code for the briefcase.

Leave the laptop and use the diskette on the front of the laptop. Then login again with the username and password and click on the diskette to read Charlie’s term paper. Leave the computer and leave the room. Leave the parlour and return to your own room. Set the alarm for 3pm.

Leave your room and walk to the end of the hall, turn right and straight left and use the door opposite the stairs down. It’s Abby’s room and she should be out now. Enter the room and have a good look around.

Directly on your right are shelves with a stereo set on it. Below it is a black jewellery box. Open it and inside you’ll find a CHARM in the shape of a spider. Take it. Leave the shelves and turn left to find a wardrobe next to the door with the robe on it. Look at the wardrobe lock to find the same shape as the charm. Use the charm on the lock to open the wardrobe and find…a full video surveillance system and audio transmission.

Use the buttons on the audio system in the middle to hear spooky sounds. So that was what you were hearing all the time. Below the sampler is a double tape deck. Insert the tape from your inventory to hear the exact same as at the séance. So Abby was behind it all. Take the tape again and close the door.

Turn further left until you reach the desk. In the front of the desk is a drawer you can open and inside you’ll find moon incense with the symbol for ‘moon‘.  Leave the desk, turn further left and find shelves with a picture on it and books. Look at the books to find information about the animals in the zodiac. Make a note of the order.

Left of the shelves is a picture on the wall. Use the picture to find a two way mirror  behind it that looks out into the hall. So this generates the ghostly figure. Turn further left to find the door again. Before you leave, open the jewellery box again and replace the charm where you found it. Leave the box and the room.

Turn right and return to your own room. Set the alarm for 5pm to make sure Louis is gone. After the alarm rang, leave the room and at the end of the corridor turn right twice through the arched opening, down the stairs and into the parlour opposite the scaffolding. Turn right and open the double doors into the library.

Turn right and find the briefcase on the chair. Open the briefcase with the code you found on the computer (4653-4868). Start with the lock on the left. Once open, look at the book in the case. More information about Miss Applegate and a special name for the hotel they used to own: Gum Bo Fu.

Use the double doors to leave the library and in the parlour use the phone on the desk on the left. Call Emily and ask her about Gum Bo Fu. After the conversation, leave the phone and the room through the single door, then go through the glass stained door under the staircase. Use the first door on the left to enter the basement.

Charlie should be here, if not go to your own room and set the alarm between 9am and 5pm. Then Charlie should definitely be here. Talk to him. You’ll give him his term papers back. After the conversation, turn around and go up the stairs, then right through the glass stained door. Take the door on the right into the parlour and the door in the right again into the library.

Louis should be here, if not go to your own room and set the alarm between 12pm and 5pm. Then Louis should definitely be here. Talk to him. Ask about the name Gum Bo Fu but when he asks how you got the name, do NOT tell him you got if from a book, but from a magazine. He’ll then tell you about the name and what it means.

Leave the library and the parlour and turn left to use the stained glass doors. Walk straight ahead and open the double doors at the end of the hall to see Rose. Talk to her and she’ll tell you everyone will be attending the Winter Festival. She’ll tell you about the tapestry in your room and a letter being delivered. It should also be in your room.

Turn around and use the double doors to leave the room.  Turn around and go up the stairs on the right. Upstairs turn left and walk down the hallway to your own room. On the chair left of your suitcases is the letter. Pick it up and read it. Some interesting information in there. Now you also know the symbol for ‘gold‘.

Turn around and go towards the bed. Look at the right of it where the tapestry was. Look at the lower part of the panelling and see that the tiles can be pushed in. Now only in the right order. Remember the book in Abby’s room about the Chinese Zodiac? There was a list in there with the same animals. The correct order is:

Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, Boar. Or if you number them from 1 to 12, top to bottom, left to right: 11, 7, 1, 9, 10, 6, 8, 2, 5, 3, 12, 4. The panel will slide open and reveal a safe. But the combination to open it has Chinese symbols. In which order to dial?

Next to the door in your room is a tapestry with text on it. Translate the text into the symbols you’ve found along the way (you did write them down, right? ;-).  The list of words is: child, beginning, daughter, four, eye, fire, moon, king, river, gold. If you haven’t written down the symbols, here’s the alternative: arrow, right 3, arrow, right 4, arrow, right 4, arrow, right 3, arrow, right 1, arrow, right 1, arrow, left 4, arrow, left 4, arrow, right 1, arrow.

The safe will open and inside you’ll find several love letters from Valdez, a will, a marriage certificate, a box and a strange pyramid which seems to have a symbol missing. You have something similar in your inventory so use that on the pyramid. Now you can turn the pyramid and on the back there are 16 squares.

Pushing a square will turn that one and several others turning moons to suns. The goal is to turn all moons into suns.

Junior: Number the squares from 1 to 9, left to right, top to bottom and push 1, 3, 9, 7, and 5.
Senior: Number the squares from 1 to 16, left to right, top to bottom and push 3, 5, 12 and 14.

The pyramid will rotate again and show you a slider puzzle. Not much help here other than that you need to create the same image as you can see on the floor in the main hall next to the scaffolding. And for solving the slider look at these hints. Although the Junior one is only with 9 tiles, the principle stays the same. Once the pyramid opens you’ll take the red GEMSTONE out.

Leave the safe and leave the room. Walk down the hallway, turn right twice through the arched opening and down the stairs. When facing the stained glass doors under the staircase, look at the phoenix heads on the left. The left one was missing an eye and when you insert the red gemstone, a ray of light will indicate where the treasure is. Use the crowbar on that location. But then the lights go out.

When you regain consciousness, you need to stop the bad guy. Go up the stairs on the right (not the left) and cross the landing. On the other side you’ll find a rope that holds up the chandelier. Untie the rope (three times) until you catch the thief.
