The Devil’s Shroud 2 – Walkthrough (Ketmaier/2005)

The Devil's Shroud 2 Walkthrough Warning! This page contains the complete solution or walk-through to this game. Reading this page can spoil the challenge to complete the game by yourself. Please consider this when reading on. The walk-through of this game given here might not be the optimal solution, it’s a solution. Just to prove that the game can be finished. You’ve just landed in Lyon. Enter the hotel next to the taxi.

The Hotel:

Use the bell on the desk to call the receptionist. Talk to him (reservation) and and give him the reservation you printed earlier. Take a BROCHURE from the desk and look at it. Walk to the left to go to your room and use the bed to get some sleep.Walk to the left twice and use the boat. It will take you to Escher’s Ascending Descending. Use the stairs into the building and you’ll see Escher’s Relativity. Walk down the stairs in front of you to reach another version  and walk up the stairs on the left.

In the next screen climb the stairs again and take the FLOWER POT from the window. Walk down the stairs the way you came and in the next room, walk down the stairs and up the stairs to the right to the balcony. Use the flowerpot on the flowerpot below to smash it. Walk further to the right, into the next screen and under the arch. Turn right, down the few steps and on the right side is a yellow KEY on the walkway.

Walk back to the left, back to where you came from, under the arch and to the left to the next screen. Then go down the stairs all the way and exit the screen on the south. In the next screen is a keyhole above the door. Use the key on that keyhole to unlock the door.

Walk down the stairs again, up the stairs in the next screen and all the way up to the balcony on the right (back to where we were before). Leave the screen on the right, walk under the arch, turn 180°, down the stairs, turn another 180° and further down the stairs to the door in front of you. Use the door to exit the building.

Walk to the left and keep walking to the left, through the tunnel of light until you end up in your bed again. Use the suitcase on your bed to take the CAMERA and the WALKMAN out. Use the television to hear about the mysterious suicide in the abbey. Use the door next to the closet to leave the room and walk to the north to leave the hotel. Talk to  the cabdriver and go to the abbey.

The Abbey:

The policeman is blocking the main entrance. Walk to the north and he’ll stop you. Walk to the left and talk to the fisherman (boat). Ask for his boat but you can’t use it because of the fishing competition. Walk to the right and go south. Select the hotel on the map and in front of the hotel walk to the right twice to reach the subway.

Lyon:

Walk to the north into the subway and on the map select Vieux Lyon. Exit the subway and walk to the left. Follow the line on the street to the right and then to the north until you reach the fish vendor. Use the green crate on the corner of the stall to call the salesman and get some FISH. In the shop next to it you can get a NEWSPAPER. Look at the newspaper in your inventory to find nothing useful there.

Walk further to the north and read the sign on the wall to learn who lives in the house. Walk to the right and in front of the restaurant walk to the north. Keep walking until you reach the stairs. Then all the way up the stairs to reach the cathedral. Walk to the right, go down the stairs to the subway and select the hotel on the map.

Walk to the left twice and talk to the cabdriver to go back to the abbey.

The Abbey:

Walk to the right and give the fish to the fisherman. He doesn’t want the tench. Drop the fish in the water and look at the pin on the coat of the fisherman. Use the camera to make a photo of the pin. Walk to the left, then south and select the hotel on the map.

The hotel:

Enter the hotel and walk to the south to go to your room. Use the computer next to the bed and use the Graph application. Click the A button to acquire a picture and from the inventory that opens select the camera. The image will be transferred to the computer.

Click on the magnifying glass and select the pin on the coat to see a picture of a fish. It’s from the Perch Fisher Club. Close the application with the X in the upper right, click on Start and OK to close the computer.

Lyon:

Use the door to leave the room and walk to the north to leave the hotel. Walk twice to the right to the subway and enter. On the map select Vieux Lyon. Walk to the left follow the line to the right. Walk north to the fish vendor. Since you know what kind of fish the fisherman is after, use the stall again to find a perch. It’s the one on the corner on the right. The salesman will get one for you and you’ll have the FISH.

Walk three times to the south and then into the subway. Select the hotel on the map and when you arrive walk to the left twice to return to the hotel. Talk to the cabdriver and select the abbey on the map.

The Abbey:

Walk to the right and again give the fish to the fisherman. He’ll have a look at your fishing spot later on. Walk to the left, then return to the right to see the fisherman has left. You’ll release the perch. Use the boat to get to the other side of the river.

Walk through the arched opening and watch the conversation between the monk and the police officer. Use the narrow arched door on the right of the wide arch to enter the house and you are in front of the window. Use the pulley to reel in the washing  and you can take one HABIT. Exit the house and walk to the north back to the boat. Use the habit on yourself to change clothes.

Walk to the right and then walk just before the police officer, between the buildings,  to the right. In the building in the back there’s a hole in the door. Look through the hole and you’ll see shelves in the back. Leave the door and walk back to the left.

Walk to the right and enter the abbey. You’ll see two policemen talking. Walk to the pillar on the right and look at the drawing on it. Walk to the left side and look at that drawing and notice the difference between them. Look at the crime scene. Walk to the north to leave the abbey.

Walk to the left and go through the arched opening back to the boat. Use the tree to change clothes again and walk to the right under the arched opening. Use the small arched door again and when you’re standing in front of the window, Use the ledge of the roof to climb on the roof.

Walk to the top of the roof then to the right. Walk further to the right until you see the barn and animals again. Use the hole in the roof to climb inside the barn and take an EGG from the shelves, FOURAGE from the manger and some FOOD from the sack.

Use the hole in the roof again to climb out onto the roof and walk to the north. Then to the left and down again to the window. Use the window to climb inside again and exit the building. Walk through the arched opening back to the tree and use the tree to put on the habit again. Walk to the right and walk just before the police officer, between the buildings,  to the right.

Walk to the tree on the right and use the egg on the plum to get the plum out of the tree. Pick up the PLUM. Walk to the cow and use the plum on the manger of the cow. Use the fourage on the manger and the cow starts eating. Use the food and drop it on the ground in front of the cow. The chicken will start eating and the cow will be scared, dropping a load on the trousers of the police officer. Walk to the front of the house and while the officer is cleaning his pants, use the door to enter the chapel.

Use the small cabinet on the left to find it locked. Leave the chapel on the south. Use the small arch on the right. Standing in the window use the pulley to reel in the second robe and take it from the line. Use the pulley again and take it from the line. In your inventory search the robes and find the KEY. Exit the room and use the door of the chapel to enter.

Use the key on the drawer to unlock it, look in the drawer and find the diary. Use the bookmark at the bottom to read more. Look at the date above the page to realize it’s from a week ago. Exit the drawer and leave the chapel on the south.

Walk to the left to the arch and back to the boat. Use the tree to change clothes and use the boat to get to the other side.

Walk to the right and then to the south. On the map select your hotel.

The hotel:

Enter the hotel and walk to the south to your room. Use your suitcase to take the electric TORCH but the length of cloth is missing. Walk to the left and find a BRACELET under the desk. Pick it up and look at it to learn the name of Starhov.

Leave the room  and in the reception use the bell. Talk to the receptionist (cloth) and mention the missing cloth. Talk to the man again (bookstall) to learn about the location of the stall.  Leave the hotel to the north and walk to the right twice to reach the subway. Walk inside and select Place Fourviere.

Walk to the left twice and use the telescope. Use the wallet on the telescope and use the embankment a bit to the right of the telescope to point the vizier. Then look at the back of the telescope to see a close-up of the embankment. Look at the bookstalls. Look at the left side and you’ll find the fish shop where you were earlier. So now you know how to find it.

Select the hotel, to the right of Place Bellecourt on the right of the embankment and  use the end of the telescope to see a close up of the hotel. In the upper right you can Father Guiseppe enter your room, probably to get the bracelet.

You need to know where he’s going. Leave this hotel view and select the Place Bellecourt, a bit to the left of the hotel. Use the back of the telescope again and you’ll see the statue and Father Guiseppe hiding behind it.Leave the view, leave the telescope and walk to the right twice and enter the subway.

Select Place Bellecourt on the map and walk to the left to see the statue. Look at the statue and you’ll wonder if Father Guiseppe is still behind it. You’ll follow him to the subway and into Lyon. [Save] When he walks up the steps, quickly walk up the steps on the left so you duck when he turns around and doesn’t see you when he reaches the top of the stairs.

When he walks on, walk up the stairs and go to the right as well. [Save] Keep walking to the right  and when Father Guiseppe walks to the north hide behind the house on the left. As soon as Father Guiseppe turns around again, follow him to the north and to the right. [Save] When he walks up the stairs, quickly go to the black door on the left. When you stay close to the door he won’t notice. [Save] Walk further up the stairs. Walk quickly to the alley on the left. You have to be very quick!

Follow him to the right and into the subway. Enter the train and walk to the south. Use the seat behind Father Guiseppe, use the newspaper from your inventory  and wait for the train to arrive. When Father Guiseppe leaves the train, use the doors on the left to get out too and follow him to the right. You’ll witness the conversation and meeting of Father Guiseppe. You’ll hide behind the trees and when the Father is gone, you’ll walk to the statue to find the monk gone.

Walk all the way to the left to return to the subway and enter. On the map select Vieux Lyon. Walk out of the subway, walk to the left and follow the line to the fish vendor. Walk to the left there to find the book stall. The man is complaining about the birds dirtying the books.

Talk to the man behind the stall (book). Look at the books and the one you’re looking for is lying on your right. Talk to the man again (book) and ask for the book. You can’t have it and can’t look at it. Walk to the right, go south three times and enter the subway. On the map select Place Bellecourt. Walk to the left twice and talk to the cab driver. On the map select the abbey.

The abbey:

Walk to the right and look at the bird. It has the sound of a seagull. As soon as the bird makes a noise, use the walkman on the bird to record it’s sound. Walk to the left and south and select the hotel on the map.

The hotel:

Enter the hotel and walk to the south to your room. Use the computer. Click the Audio button, click the A button and acquire the walkman from your inventory. Click the R button to reverse the track and close the application with the X in the upper right corner. Click on Start and OK to leave the computer. Leave the room, walk to the north to leave the hotel and walk to the right twice to go to the subway.

Vieux Lyon:

Enter the subway and select Vieux Lyon on the map. Leave the subway there, walk to the left and follow the line to the fish stall. Walk to the left there and you’re back at the book stall. Take the walkman from your inventory and use it on the vendor. He’ll be distracted by the sound and watch over the river. When he looks there, use the pin on the legs on the right of the stall so the stall collapses.

He walks away to get the tools. You can pick up the BOOK and read it. Walk to the right to leave the stall, then south three times and into the subway. On the map select the Place Fourviere and walk to the left. Enter the basilique and use your wallet on the gift box on the left to get another 20p COIN. Leave the basilique on the south and walk to the left to the telescope. Use the telescope, select the Parc de la Tete d’Or on the left and point the telescope to it. Use the coin on the telescope and use it again to see a close up of the park. Leave the view and use the camera on the telescope to make a picture of the scene. Leave the telescope and walk to the right twice. Enter the subway and select the hotel. Walk to the left twice and talk to the cabdriver to go to the abbey.

The abbey:

The police is gone. Walk straight ahead and enter the abbey. Try to make a picture of the images on the pillars but there’s not enough light. Leave the abbey again and walk to the left. Use the door of the chapel to find it locked. Walk between the buildings to the right and try to enter the shed on the right. Still locked. Look at the window above the cow. It’s open. Use the window to see you can’t reach it.

Walk back to the left and go to the right three times to see the boat with an anchor. Take the ANCHOR and walk back to the left and then north to the abbey. Walk to the left and go to the right behind the chapel. Use the anchor on the broken lamp holder on the right and use it to climb into the chapel.

Use the key on the drawer and take the PENCIL out. Use the window to leave the chapel and walk to the left. Then right to the entrance of the abbey and go inside. Use your notebook on the picture on the left pillar to put a piece of paper over it and use the pencil on the paper to transfer the image. You broke the pencil tip. Now you can’t transfer it anymore.

Leave the picture and leave the abbey. Walk to the left and use the small arched opening. When standing in front of the window, use the ledge above it to climb on the roof. Walk to the right and use the hole in the roof on the other side to climb down into the shed. Use the bottle just below the hole to take the CORK from it. Use the hole in the roof again to climb out, walk to the left until you’re in the window again and exit the room. Walk to the right and enter the abbey.

Use the lighter with the cork to create a piece of coal. Use your notebook on the picture on the left pillar to put a piece  of paper over it and use the cork on the paper to transfer the IMAGE. Walk to the right, use the notebook on the image and use the cork to transfer this IMAGE as well.  Leave the abbey, walk to the right, then south to the map. Go back to the hotel.

The hotel:

Walk into the hotel and go to the south to your room. Open your inventory and use the camera on the transferred relief to scan the image. Do the same with the second image. Use the computer and select the Graph application. Click the A button to acquire an image. Your inventory opens and select the camera from the inventory and the image of the park is visible. Use the A button again and select the camera again from your inventory and the transferred image will show beside it. Use the A button again and select the camera from your inventory and the two faces are in your application.

Use the M button to match the images. The differences will appear in red. Use the A button to acquire another image and select the camera from your inventory. The picture of the park will show alongside the masks. Use the M button to make a match again and use the magnifying glass to zoom in on the ‘nose’. It’s the foutain. Look at the picture to conclude that the mouth should be the entrance of the mine.

Close the application with the X in the upper right corner, click on Start and then OK. Leave the room and walk to the north to leave the hotel. Walk to the right twice and enter the subway. On the map select Parc de la Tete d’Or.

The park:

Walk to the right twice and look at the fountain. It looks like the end is missing. Walk twice to the left again, enter the subway and return to the hotel. Walk to the left twice and talk to the cabdriver to go to the abbey.

The abbey:

Walk to the north to the abbey, to the left and behind the chapel to the right. Use the anchor to enter the chapel and open the drawer. Look inside and take the strange OBJECT to the right of the diary. It’s the end of the fountain. Leave the drawer and use the window to climb out again. Walk to the left and then to the right twice. Go south to the taxi and select the hotel on the map.

The park:

Walk to the right twice and use the subway to go to Parc de la Tete d’Or. Walk to the right twice and visit the fountain. Use the object with the fountain and a secret passage and ladder are reveiled. Use the ladder to climb down. Use the lever to close the top, if it’s not done yet and it will be very dark. Use your torch on the opening in front of you and you can walk down the tunnel.

Walk through the door at the end of the tunnel and once you enter the room, all lights go out and the doors close. You’re trapped in a maze. In the book you took from the stall you can see on page 2 what the maze looks like and wjat you must do: light the torches in all rooms. But: when you enter a room that already has a burning torch, all will go out.

Solution to the maze:

Light the torch in the room and the doors open. In each next room, light the torch and go

North, North, North, Left, Left, South (you don’t have to light this), North (all lights out). Light this one again and each of the next rooms: South, South, South, Right, North, North, Right, South, South, Right, North, North, North, Left, Left, Left. Light this last one and the crypt will open.

Enter the crypt and look at the book on the stand in the middle. There are three monks with three dates. Look at them all. Leave the book and look at the wall in the back with a special tile. It has the same face as you saw in the church. Above it should go a date: 09-11-1999. To create the date:

Number the sqaures with numbers in it from left to right, from 1 to 8. To move the numbers, first click on the number, then on the location it should go to:

1 up, 2 left, 7 up, 6 right, 5 up, 3 up, 4 right, 5 right, down 5, 5 left, 4 left, 3 left, down 3, 3 right, 4 right, 5 up, 2 right, 3 up, 1 right, 2 right, 3 right, 4 right, down 1, 1 right, 2 right, 3 right, down 3, 3 left, 2 left, 1 up, 4 left, 3 up, 5 left, 4 left, 3 left, 2 left, 6 left, 5 left, 4 left, 3 left, down 5, 5 left, 4 left, 7 left, 6 left, 5 up, 3 right, 4 right, 5 right, 6 right, 2 right, 3 right, 4 right, 5 right, down 5, 5 left, 4 left, 3 left, 6 left, 5 left, 4 left, 7 left, 6 left, 5 left, 8 left, 7 left, 6 left, 5 up, 4 right, 5 right, 6 right, 7 right, 3 right, 4 right, 5 right, 6 right, down 3, 3  right, 4 right, 5 right, down 5, 5 left, 4 left, 3 up, 6 left, 5 left, 4 left, 7 left, 6 left, 5 left, down 7, 7 left, 6 left, 5 up, 4 right, 5 right, 6 right, 3 right, 4 right, 5 right, down 5, down 3, 3 right, 2 right, 1 right, down 1.

Push the nose of the face to open the mouth and let the light shine through. Use the mouth the get the two pieces of SHROUD.

The hotel:

Look at your inventory at the shroud. Combine the two pieces of shroud and look again. Look at the brochure of the travel agency to find the number: 011235544. Use your phone on yourself to dial the number but the battery is low. Leave the room and use the phone in the reception. Enter the number and you’ll order a ticket to Prague. Talk to the cab driver and on the map select the airport.

    I’ve really enjoyed The Devil’s Shroud but part 4 gave me some difficulty since you have to use just one word in places, the exact word the author had in mind, to get a response, so I was really happy to run across this walkthrough. Thank you!
