The Black Cauldron Remake Walkthrough Warning! This page contains the complete solution or walk-through to this game. Reading this page can spoil the challenge to complete the game by yourself. Please consider this when reading on. The walk-through of this game given here might not be the optimal solution, it’s a solution. Just to prove that the game can be finished. [Note: whenever you have a dry throat or are feeling hungry, use the water or bread from your inventory to take care of it.]

Use the front door of the house to go inside.

Talk to the man at the table, Dallben, and he’ll tell you to go and feed the pig. Use the cupboard next to the fireplace to open it and take your KNAPSACK, an APPLE, a loaf of BREAD and a water FLASK out. Take the pot of GRUEL hanging in the fireplace and walk to the right to leave the house. Use the flask from your inventory on the tub next to the door to take some WATER.

Walk to the left and go north where you’ll find a tree with a hole in it. Use the hole to find a LUTE. Use the lute in your inventory to tune it. Walk to the right three times and go south to reach the side of Dallben’s house. Use the door of the shed attached to the house and inside you’ll find some dried CORN so take it.

Use the gate of the pig’s enclosure and step in. Give the gruel to pig Hen Wen (5/5). Then, because the gate broke, the pig walks to the house. Follow her to the left and walk inside the house again. Talk to Dallben and see what happens to Hen Wen. You’ll learn about the pig’s magic powers. Dallben tells you to go to Fair Folk to hide the pig. Hen Wen will now follow you.

Leave the house on the right and walk to the right again to return  at the pig’s enclosure. Walk to the south and cross the bridge to the south. Walk to the left twice to reach a part of the forest with trees and a black rock in the center. When you walk to this place, make sure Hen Wen isn’t taken by the dragon. If she is, you need to restore or start again so save often. Go north through the bushes and find a little cottage (4/9). Inside you’ll find a fairy. The fairy will take care of Hen Wen and the first quest succeeded.

Your next task is to locate King Eiddileg. The fairy gives you a password to use later on. Hen Wen is safe now and will go with the fairy (20/29). Open the cupboard on the right of the doorway and take the COOKIES out. Walk to the south to leave the hut and outside walk to the south again through the bushes. Now walk to the right until you reach the wall. You can meet Gurgi along the way, a little creature. If you do, give your apple to the creature and you’ll have a friend for life (10/39). Gorgi will follow you.

When you’ve reached the wall, walk to the north to see the bridge. Walk to the right side of the bridge into the water and look under the bridge. There’s a wallet. Pick up the WALLET and look at it. It’s filled with food. Walk to the north until you reach the waterfall. Use the magic password from your inventory on the bottom rocky part of the waterfall and you can step onto it to walk to the right into a cave. It’s dark and you’ll fall down into the residence of King Eiddileg (13/52). Talk to the King and tell him your quest.

You need to show something to the King that shows your respect so give the lute to the Fairy King (10/62). The king will order you to find the black cauldron and destroy it before the evil Horned King does. You’ll get some FAIRY DUST and a MIRROR. Use the fairy dust on yourself to leave the cave again. Use the magic word on the rock again to lower it and walk to the left until you reach the dark moor. Walk north along the edge of the moor until you reach a tree with a dagger in it. Take the DAGGER from the tree. Walk north again and then to the left in front of the stream until you reach the base of the Eagle Mountains.

Walk through the maze of rocks (around the pink and purple rocks) and to the north. Then you’re at the base of a rock wall (5/67).  Use the rope at the top of the stone wall untill the rope catches a branch (5/72). Use the rope to climb to the other end and you’re at the top of the rock. But the danger isn’t over yet. Use the stone wall to hang on to and move to the right across the gap. Walk further to the right and grab the stone wall again, near the ledge you’re standing on.

Climb up and step onto the ledge on the left. Walk carefully to the left and grab the wall again, this time a small distance up to the ledge on the left. When you’ve reached the top ledge walk further to the left (6/78). Walk north and walk over the very narrow road to the Horned King’s castle. On the other side you’ll reach the moat with crocodiles (5/83). Walk to the left in front of the moat and there should be a cart waiting in front of the drawbridge. If not, walk back to the right and immediately to the left until there is. Walk towards the cart and use it to hide in the back.  Once the cart is inside the castle (18/101) wait for the guard to leave and then get out of the cart.

[note: if you get caught and end up in jail, take the TIN CUP from the table and use it on the door. Use the large floortile in the center of the room to reveal a room below. Go through the hole and proceed as if fallen through the hole in the floor between the barrels.]

Walk to the north and walk between the last two barrels on the right. There’s a hole in the floor (6/107). Walk further to the right until you fall down and meet the young lady (10/117). Talk to her. You need to find a way out. Walk to the left twice and look at the stones on the north wall. Some of them look loose. Use the stones to push one out and open the wall. Push the other three stones as well to make a passage (10/127).

Walk through the opening and find the burial chamber of the king who once built the castle. The princess will leave through a tiny hole and you are left behind. On the tomb is a SWORD. Take it (8/135) and leave the room on the south again. Walk further to the south and follow the corridor to the right. On the wall is a gargoyle next to a ladder. Use the gargoyle to open the trapdoor in the ceiling and use the ladder to climb out of the dungeon.

Walk to the north and be quick to use the sword on the guard to knock him unconscious. Take the KEYS from the wall and use the keys on the door in the north. Be quick and use the sword on the guard again if necessary. Once the door is unlocked, use the door to open it and walk through. You’ll find a man chained to the wall. Use the keyring on the man to free him. He’ll thank you and tell more about himself. He gives you his HARP (9/144) and leaves the room.

Walk to the south and through the doorway on the left.  Walk up the stairs once and go to the right. If you were in jail earlier, you can use the closet here to retrieve your belongings. If you still had everything, walk to the south twice to reach the front gate. Use the sword on the windlass left of the gate and the drawbridge will be lowered. Walk to the left to leave the castle (13/157).

Walk to the right below the moat and at the crocodiles go south. Again across the narrow wall to the south and south once more to reach the rope. Climb the wall (use the end of the rope to hold the wall ?!) and crawl to the right to the lower ledge. On that ledge walk to the right and grab the wall again. Lower yourself to the bottom ledge and walk to the left there. Use the wall again to climb to the ledge on the left and then you can walk to the rope. Use the rope and climb down to the left.

Once down, walk south and through the maze of rocks again to exit on south. Walk past the creepy trees to the south again where you find stones in the water. But they are to far to use them to cross. Use the fairy dust on yourself to fly and fly across the water to the other side to the left and land in front of the house (15/172). Use the door of the house to enter and use the trunk in the room to let the frogs out and the witches appear. Talk to them and ask for the cauldron. But they don’t give it just like that. Give the sword to the witches (18/190) and the cauldron will be presented outside.

Talk to the witches again to learn how to destroy the cauldron. A living creature must jump in out of free will. While standing in front of the cauldron, a flying dragon will appear and take the cauldron to the castle of the Horned King. So there’s nothing left than to return to the castle. Walk to the right, use the fairy dust on yourself and fly to the other side. Wait for the dust to wear off and walk north twice to reach the base of the mountain. Walk through the boulder maze to the north.

Use the rope to climb to the other end and you’re at the top of the rock. But the danger isn’t over yet. Use the stone wall to hang on to and move to the right across the gap. Walk further to the right and grab the stone wall again, near the ledge you’re standing on. Climb up and step onto the ledge on the left. Walk carefully to the left and grab the wall again, this time a small distance up to the ledge on the left. When you’ve reached the top ledge walk further to the left. Walk north and walk over the very narrow road to the Horned King’s castle. On the other side you’ll reach the moat with crocodiles.

Walk to the left and across the bridge into the castle. Walk to the north and between the last two barrels on the right into the chute. When you’re in the basement, walk south and to the right. You’re in the room with the Horned King and the cauldron. Use the mirror on the king and he’ll see his inner self. He jumps into the cauldron (25/215) .

Once outside again on dry land, the witches want the cauldron back. But they’ll trade it so they offer several things. Wait until they offer the sword and accept it (15/230).

    if i go from the location with black rock in center to the north throught the bushes, i canť find the little cottage. there is no little cottage. help me please.
