Shifter's Box: Outside In Walkthrough Warning! This page contains the complete solution or walk-through to this game. Reading this page can spoil the challenge to complete the game by yourself. Please consider this when reading on. The walk-through of this game given here might not be the optimal solution, it’s a solution. Just to prove that the game can be finished. Home:

After a short walk you find a strange box. Try to open the box. You can’t. Walk to the tree and use the tree to get a BRANCH from it. Use the branch on the box and it will open. You’ll travel to a new world.

Steamworks and Platforms:

You can’t open the box like that. On the tall pipe on the right is a BUCKET. Take it and look at the bucket. Someone left a PIPE CAP. On the ground on the left you can find another PIPE CAP. Put the bucket on the drain.  Use one cap on the small pipe above the drain. Use the other cap on the small pipe on the far right. Use the pipe valve in the middle to pour water into the bucket.

Pick up the BUCKET again and use it on the long rope on the right side of the contraption. The basket on the left will lower and you can take a SCREWDRIVER out. Use the screwdriver on the box and you can travel to the next world.

Desert:

Use the sand on the solar panel to wipe it off and the container next to it will open. Take the FUSE from the container and look at it. It’s broken. Use the fuse and you can take the cap from one side. Use the screwdriver on the box again to travel back to steamworks and platforms and use the fuse on the bucket to fill it with WATER. Use the screwdriver on the box again to return to the desert.

Walk to the left and use the screwdriver on the panel of the robot to open it. You now have the SCREWS and the PANEL. Use the fuse in the open access panel and the robot’s power is restored. Talk to the robot to learn about the box and the way to become the ‘Machine’s Gate’. Use the box and ‘become the machine gate’. You’ll travel to another world.

Metallurgic Wonders:

There’s a SIGN that can easilly be removed. Use the sign with the panel to make a long platform and use the screws on it to secure them together. Use the platform on the gap between the two towers. Scratch the cat’s chin and it will stand up and follow you. Walk to the left to the second tower and pick up the PLATFORM again. Use the button to turn on the light and a jellyfish will be attracted.  Use the platform on the gap between tower two and three and walk to the third tower.

Pick up the PLATFORM and use it on the gap between tower three and tower four. Walk to tower four and the jellyfish will move to the right. Stroke the cat’s ear to make it sit down, walk to the right to the third tower and try to take the jellyfish. It will move to the right. Take the  PLATFORM and put in on the gap between the second and third tower. Step on the the second platform and try to take the jellyfish again. It will move back to the left and this time the cat will try to catch the fish.

The cat doesn’t succeed but the fish drops a badge. Walk onto the third tower and pick up the PLATFORM. Use the platform on the gap between the third an fourth tower and take the BADGE from the floor. Use the badge on the scanner on the left and an AI will show up all the way on the left. Step onto the third tower and pick up the PLATFORM.

Use the platform on the gap between the second and third tower, walk onto the second tower and pickup the PLATFORM again. Use the platform on the gap between the first and second tower and walk onto the first tower. Now you can talk to the AI.

Ask for more information about the box and you’ll learn about Kadin Longblow VII. Ask for more information about him and you’ll learn about the Longblow Tower. Ask for more information about the tower and you’ll hear about the way to use the box to get there. Use the box and draw a line with your finger and say “To Sarthen”.

Longblow Tower:

On the energy source in the middle is an engery control. Use it twice to shift the energy to the archive on the left. Use the archive and search for the most recent entry. This will tell more about the Source Gem. Search for information on Source Gems and you’ll learn that Source Golems can make them. There happen to be a golem next to you.

Leave the archive and use the source control twice again to activate the golem. Use the golem and command him to make a Source Gem. Take the SOURCE GEM from the golem and use the gem on the box to continue your travels.

The Island:

There’s not much on the island. There are some stones on the ground and groups of hot pipes. Step onto the stone in the middle of the island to see a note coming from one of the tubes.

The stones have an effect on the pipes: the stones in front of the group of pipes make the note move from pipe to pipe within the group. The stone in the middle make the note move between groups. To get the note:

Use the stone in the center to let the note fly to the middle pipe of the center group. Use the stone in front of the center group to make it move to the left pipe of the center group. Use the stone in the center to make the note fly to the middle pipe in the group on the right. Use the stone in front of the group on the right to make the note move to the left pipe of the group on the right. Use the same stone again and the note will go to the right pipe of the right group. Use the stone in the center again to make the note drop on the ground next to you.

Pick up the NOTE and look at it in your inventory. Use the note on the box to travel to the next world.

Island of Peaks:

Use the stone on the ground to find a strange KEY under it. The door has no keyhole so you can’t use it there but still it is the key to your escape. Look at the bittings of the key. They have different lengths as have the lamp posts. Turn them on in the same order as the key suggests: first the tall one to the right of the door, then then shortest one on the far right. Then the tallest of them all and finally the short one left of the door. The door will unlock. Use the door but you won’t be able to open it.

Meet Rochelle who will give you a drink and information on how to get to Mr. Longblow. She knows he went to Nargo. Ask her how to get there and she’ll tell you. Use the box and touch it with your index fingers together.

Nargo:

There’s Kadin. But he’s in kind of a situation. Talk to him and ask him to help you home. He’d love to but he’s stuck now. Look at the board on the ground and talk to Kadin again. Ask him about the board and he’ll tell you it lacks power at the moment.  Use the gem on the board and the power is restored. Use the board again to rescue Kadin.

Talk to Kadin again and tell him you want to go home. He’ll tell you about Finth and how to find him. Use the box and say ‘Finth’.

Finth Tower:

You’re next to an elevator but it doesn’t work. There are four pylons each with a chip in it. First, remove all FOUR CHIPS from the pylons. Look at the chips in your inventory. They have yellow lines each on a different position. Take the chip with the line almost on the edge of the chip. Now find the pylon with the wire that leads to the bottom part of the tower. It’s the pylon on the far right. The bottom light will go on. Next take the chip with the yellow line on the second position. Put it in the pylon on the far left and the second light will burn. Then the chip with the line on the third position. Put it in the pylon on the left of the tower. Finally the last chip in the pylon right of the tower and all lights will burn.

Use the lift to go up in the tower. There’s Finth. Talk to him and ask him how to get home. He’ll tell you you have to ask the box to take you where you belong. Use the box and it wil take you back home.

    Why can’t I find ANOTHER cap for thepipe?
    In my game copy there is only the cap the man leaves,there is NO OTHER cap!

    Please do not publish my mail.
