Paula In Wonderland – Walkthrough (Oliver Hohlstein/2003)

Please consider this when reading on. The walk-through of this game given here might not be the optimal solution, it’s a solution. Just to prove that the game can be finished. Becoming investigator:

Talk to the rabbit in front of the tunnel. Ask if he isn’t too late and you’ll talk about the time. At some point you can ask for his CLOCK. He’ll give it to you (1/1). Also ask him where the tunnel leads to. Walk into the tunnel and inside you’ll find Jane at the reception of Wonderland. Talk to her and ask about the tape in front of the entrance. She’ll tell you about the murder so ask all about it. When you ask her to remove the tape, she’ll tell you only investigators can enter.

Walk to the left to leave the reception and outside on the hill walk south into town. Walk into the police station and talk to the policeman. Ask him about the murder and he’ll tell you he can only share information with a private investigator. Tell him you are but he’ll ask for your diploma from the detective union.

Walk to the left to exit the building and at the block of flats look at the panel with buttons. There’s an interesting name… Use the panel to ring the Holmes bell and you can enter. Walk inside and talk to Jenny. Ask for the address of the union and she’ll tell you it doesn’t exist anymore. But she can issue a diploma if you can answer three questions. The first two aren’t a problem but the third is.

Take the dark green BOOK from the right of the top shelf (1/2) and walk to the left to leave. Walk south to the hill and talk to the rabbit about the third question. He knows the answer. Go south back to the streets and  into the block of flats. Talk to Jenny again and after answering correct, she’ll give you the DIPLOMA (5/7). Leave on the left and go into the police station again.

Talk to the police man and tell him you have the diploma. When he asks for it, show him the diploma. He’ll now tell you all about the murder and ask him about the investigation. He’ll give you the CHARGE (1/8). Ask him what to find out and he’ll tell about the things you need to find out: the time, the weapon, the motive and the murderer. Walk left to leave the police station. If you’re unsure of how to proceed you can return to Jenny and ask about how to investigate, otherwise walk south to the entrance of the tunnel.

Walk into the tunnel and talk to Jane. Ask her to remove the tape but she still can’t because she can’t tell the time. Give her your clock (2/10) and she’ll remove the tape. Walk to the right to enter Wonderland.

Getting the time:

Look at the corpse to find the book of MATCHES. Look at the matches to realize that he must have been to the inn. Walk to Barney’s Inn and go inside. Talk to Barney and ask him about the 8 of Hearts. Since Tiffany was working at that time, he suggests you talk to her. Talk to Tiffany and learn about the March Hare. She’ll give you an INVITATION to get into his place (1/11).

Walk to the left and leave the Inn. Go to the teapot on the right and use the doorbell. When you’ve shown your invitation you can come in (1/12).  Talk to the Mat Hatter and ask for his hat. He can give it if you’ll give him tea. Take the TEAPOT standing next to the Hare (1/13) and use it with the cup of the Mat Hatter (1/14). Talk to him again and ask for his hat. He doesn’t make them anymore but you can have his own HAT (1/15). When you ask him what he’s doing now he’ll tell you about the cards and when you ask him to investigate the crime scene, he’ll agree and leave.

Leave the house and walk to the left back to the meadow. Walk further left to reach the body and talk to the Mad Hatter to establish the time of death.

Getting the weapon:

Walk north to the fairground in the back. Talk to Sergej standing next to the camper and tell him a hat would be nice. He doesn’t have any so give him yours (1/16). As thanks you get his AUTOGRAPH. Walk left to leave the fairground and enter the Inn again.

Give the autograph to Barney (1/17) and he’ll give you a BEER MUG. Leave the Inn on the left and walk back to the fairground. Smash the beer mug on the nail bed to punch the bottom. Walk to the left to leave the fairground and walk all the way to the right to reach the river. Fill the beer mug with water but because of the holes in it you’ll sieve a KEY out of the river (1/18).

Walk left to the Inn and go through the back door into the back yard. Use the key with the door of the barn (1/19) and enter the barn. Take the AXE (1/20) and the SHOVEL out (1/21). Leave the barn on the left and walk through the Inn to the outside. Walk to the mountains on the right and start digging in the sand with the shovel. You’ll dig up a pair of SCISSORS (1/22). When you look at it in your inventory, you’ll see it’s the murder weapon.

Getting the motive:

Walk to the left to leave the mountains and then all the way to the left to return to the reception. Leave on the left and on the hill walk to the south. In the town enter the police station and talk to the police man. Tell him the time of murder (10/32) and give him the pair of scissors (10/42). In return you get a bottle of WINE.

Walk to the left to leave the station and go south back to the hill. Enter the tunnel and through the reception to Wonderland on the right. Enter the Inn and give the wine to Barney. He’ll give you PEPPERBOX back (1/43).  Leave the Inn on the left and walk to the right. Walk to the castle and inside climb the stairs on the right to reach the alchemists tower.

On the wall is a paper and when you read it, it’s a recipe. The ingredients are in the pot already but need some salt. Use the pepperbox with the fire and instead of gold, you’ll get a HAMMER (1/44). Pick it up (1/45) and leave the tower. Downstairs walk south to leave the castle. Walk to the left to the teapot of the Hare and enter the smith’s building to the right of it.

Give the hammer to Arnold  (1/46) and he’ll offer you something from his toolbox. You’ll take the SCREWDRIVER. Leave the smith and walk to the left to return to the meadow. Walk to the mountains on the right and use the screwdriver with the slot machine to open the tray (1/47). Take the MONEY from the tray (1/48) and  leave the mountains.

Walk to the left to the Wunder Shop and talk to the dealer in the window [NOTE: invisible, notice hotspot to locate]. Tell him you want to buy something. Aks for a SURPRISE BAG for girls (1/49). Look at the bag in your inventory to find a COMB inside. Walk to the castle on the right and talk with the Queen of Hearts.

Give her the comb (1/50) and in return you get a LENS. Look at it in your inventory to read the warning. Leave the castle on the south and walk all  the way to the left to return to the reception of Wonderland. Go left to exit the tunnel. Use the lens with the sun to burn a hole in the ground (1/51). Look at the hole to discover the LETTER inside (1/52). Read the letter in your inventory to see it’s the motive (1/53).

Getting the murderer:

Walk into the tunnel and through the reception. Go north to the fair and talk to Sergej outside. Tell him the story and he’ll invite you into his caravan. Go inside and take the FAKE BEARD from the bench (1/54). Go outside and walk to the left. Use the fake beard on yourself and go back to the Wunder Shop. Talk to the dealer again and this time buy a surprise bag for boys (1/55).

Use the beard on yourself again to take it off. In your inventory look at the bag and find a TOY CAR inside. Walk through the Inn to the back yard. Push the toy car in the gutter and it will get stuck at some point (1/56).   Use your axe at that point to find a jewelry case. Pick up the JEWELRY CASE (1/57) and look at in your inventory to see who it belongs. Walk into the Inn and give the box to Tiffany. She’ll give you a BOOK on psychology (1/58).

In your inventory combine the two books and you’ll get an idea about the murderer. Leave the Inn on the left and walk to the left to return to the reception. Talk to Jane until you get a written CONFESSION (1/60). Leave on the left and on the hill walk to the south. Go into the police station and give the letter you found in the hole as motive  (10/70) and the confession (10/80). You solved the case.
