I am in the red carpet room and I know I need to pull the lever down 4 times to get rid of the vacuum, but I pull down 4 times & nothing happens. What am I doing wrong.

hi there, what a great game! after i rolled the joint in the prison cell i’m given an arm to put through the mouse hole, when i do that i scare the fat prisoner on the right and he jumps in the arms of the other one on the left and then i’m stuck there with my hand in the other cell…i’m I suppose to grab on to something while the arm is waving around? when the arm stops waving i can’t do any other moves! can you please provide solution for that bit?
